The new Pastry House Lebanese bakery (update: now called Paradise Takeaway) in St. Helen’s Road had a long incubation period but now Ramadan is over it has opened its doors. The Cedar of Lebanon decorates the oven from which your hot bread is baked to order – my quality of life I suspect has been considerably improved. I bought up all four of the little sweet pastry dishes and have given them to curious friends we ate with later. At £2 pound each one can afford a gesture of Eastern courtesy.
(The only Pastry House website I can currently find is for their Manchester branch.)
